Bert Ansell, Calhoun orchardist and husband of Mrs. Ora Ansell of Jerseyville, died Saturday, March 31, at three p.m., at the Illinois Hospital in Pittsfield where he had submitted to surgery. Mr. Ansell had been failing health for some time.
The decedent was one of seven children born to the late John J. and Nancy Ann Ansell. He was born at the old Ansell homestead at Summit Grove in Calhoun County on August 13, 1871, and had spent his entire lifetime on the same farm.
Mr. Ansell was united in marriage to Mrs. Ora Hunter Ansell in April, 1910. No children were born to this union.
As a young man he became a member of the Presbyterian Church at Summit Grove, and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs Ora Ansell of Jerseyville, five step-children, Theodore and Dorothy Ansell of Jerseyville, Anne Ansell of Chicago and Jake and Ellsworth Ansell of Kampsville. He also leaves four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, April 3, at two o'clock at the Presbyterian Church in Kampsville. Reverend L. D. Stone of Brighton officiated at the rites and interment was in the Summit Grove cemetery.
