BURNS, Joseph Cecil, 74, of Pleasant Hill, IL died at 10:30 am Saturday, Nov. 27, 1971 in a doctor's office in Pleasant Hill.
He was a laborer at Stark's Nursery.
Mr. Burns was born in North Calhoun county, IL, Jan. 4, 1897, a son of Joseph and Sidney Hickerson Burns.
In 1958 he married Mary Beasley Pickerel. She survives.
Also surviving are 2 stepsons, Robert Roach and Elza Pickerel, both of Pleasant Hill, IL; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Max (Bessie) Goewey of Nebo, IL; 2 brothers, Floyd and James Burns of Pleasant Hill, and 9 stepchildren.
The deceased was a member of the Christian Church at Mozier, IL, and a veteran of World War I.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Monday, Nov. 29 at Ward Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill with the Rev. Frank Claybourne officiating. Burial was in the Poore Cemetery in Calhoun County.
