Belleview. - Mrs. Viola Clendenny, 70, of Belleview, died Monday (Nov.
1, 1976) at 2:40 p.m.at St. John's Hospital, following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in St. John Lutheran
Church in Kampsville. The Rev. William Schmidt will officiate. Burial
will be in Fox Creek Cemetery in Mozier. Funeral arrangements are being
handled by Ward-Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill.
Mrs. Clendenny was born April 18, 1906, in Batchtown, a daughter of
Milton and Anna Kraut Edwards. She attended the Lutheran church. She
married Oscar Clendenny, May 11, 1926 in Jacksonville, Illinois. He died
May 17, 1955.
Surviving are three sons, Paul Clendenny of Godfrey, Keith of Canton,
Ill., and Ronald E.of East Alton; four daughters, Emma Dell Gifford of
St. Louis, Mrs. Leora Rhoades of Lutesville, Mo., Mrs. Madalene Wills of
Sadorus and Mrs. Phyllis Van Strien of Augurn; two brothers, Carl
Edwards of Nebo, and Ernest Edwards of Natchitoches, La.; three sisters,
Edith Edwards of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. Dorothy McNulty of Hannibal and
Mrs. Marian Procter of Beverly Hills, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons.
