Eutha R. Hanks Grimes, 101, of the Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hardin, and formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Eutha was born Sept. 6, 1909 in Byerton Township, Calhoun County, a daughter of Clifford C. and Mattie McBride Hanks. Following her high school graduation, she taught school at Buckhorn and Pearl schools in Pike County. May 9, 1930 she married Russell L. Grimes in Springfield. Russell died March 26, 1986.
Eutha was devoted to her Lord and Savior, her family and her many friends.
Survivors include her brother, Paul Hanks of Hardin, a daughter, Janet Grimes of Dallas, Texas, two grandchildren, Laura Cerva of Dallas and Scott (Kandye) Dille of Barrington, Il, four great grandchildren, Anna Dille (Travis) Cobbs of Dallas, Benjamin and Grace Dille of Barrington and Megan Thompson of Dallas, also several nieces and nephews.
Eutha was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Eula D. Hanks.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at the Nebo Church of Christ conducted by Bro. Wilson Ramsey. Burial followed at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Visitation was held Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. Memorials may be made to the Crescent Heights Cemetery Association. Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill is handling the arrangements.
