A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier church for Mary J. Lewis, 96, of Lake Charles, La., formerly of Jerseyville, with Father Patrick Morrow as celebrant. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery. She died at 4 pm, 24 Feb. at St. Patrick's hospital, Lake Charles.
She was born 10 July 1886 in Calhoun county, daughter of the late William and Sarah Clark Narup and was the widow of the late Dr. Carl Fredrick Lewis.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. John David Lewis of Lake Charles and Paul H. Lewis of Kerrville, Tex; one daughter, Dorthea Kaniaupuni of Agana, Guam; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The rosary was recited at Jacoby Funeral home.
