The funeral of Robert Earl Lewis, son of Lt. and Mrs. Carl F. Lewis, was held Wednesday, 4 Sep. at 2 pm from the St. Francis Xavier's church; Rev. Father J. J. Clancy officiating. Interment in the St. Francis cemetery.
Robert, age two years, 4 months and twelve days, died at the home of his parents, on West Pine Street, Monday evening about 5 o'clock following a brief illness of acute indigestion, followed by spasms. He was the youngest of the Lewis sons.
Frederick, aged six and Paul, aged four, with their father and mother survive. Lt. Lewis for the past four months has been serving his country as a medical officer with the 31st Regiment of Engineers in France. Before enlisting in the service, Dr. Lewis was practicing in Calhoun county and later moved his family to Jerseyville in order that he could reach home better when on leave from his duties at the training camps. The Lewis family have the sympathy of the entire community.
