Mrs. Mahalie Sconce,
mother of Charles A. Sconce of Grafton, died Saturday, February 5, at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Loren Bailey near Hardin, following an illness of extended
duration.
The deceased was a native of Hamburg and was born January 26, 1870.
She observed her seventy-fourth birthday anniversary last month. Mrs. Sconce is
survived by three daughters, Mrs. Perry Ingersoll and Mrs. Loren Bailey of near
Hardin; one son, Charles Sconce of Grafton; seventeen grandchildren; eight great
grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Blackorby of Granite City; one brother,
Charles T?????? of Decatur; three half sisters, Mrs. Myra Sackett of White Hall,
Mrs. Hattie Williams of Granite City and Mrs. Effie Ladd of Carrollton.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, February 7, at two o’clock at the
Indian Creek Church and interment was in Indian Creek Cemetery, in Calhoun
County.
